The project formerly known as GPSBabel has been sold to Microsoft and will reemerge as "GPS Live".

Terms of the deal were not announced, but CEO Steve Ballmer is reportedly glad to stop users from being distracted by all those other operating systems for their GPS needs. "Streets and Trips runs on Vista Home AND Vista Premium. We understand portability. Once we work with GPSBabel's developers, developers, developers and replace all that other stuff with the V2.0 Clippy Interface, it'll be amazingly great."

The Justice Department was unreachable for comment.

The deal closed on April 1.
